For all those, who are looking for a hands-on, praxis-oriented introduction to the extended features of MAXQDA for computer-supported analysis of qualitative data.

Requirements

MAXQDA basics taught in the workshops “Analysing Qualitative Data with MAXQDA Starter I” and preferably “Analysing Qualitative Data with MAXQDA Starter II“: You should be familiar with the interface, be able to code texts, retrieve coded segments and write memos.

Overview

In this workshop you will learn how to use advanced features of MAXQDA. The workshop focuses on the topics:

  • How to use colors for your analysis
  • How to group most used codes with code favorites
  • How to work with summaries
  • How to export coded segments and code definitions into reports
  • How to work together as a team using MAXQDA

This workshop consists of a mixture of demonstrations and guided practice and provides opportunity for questions.

Goals

After completing this workshop, participants will be able to incorporate the use of colors and code favorites when coding data. They will be familiar with creating reports with the SmartPublisher and exporting a codebook with codes and code definitions. They have gained an overview of MAXQDAs team work features and are able to implement them in various team work scenarios.

Your Instructor

Francisco rundFrancisco Freitas is a researcher who studied Sociology, Risk Analysis and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Alongside his research activities, since 2010 he collaborates with Verbi GmbH in the development of the Portuguese version of MAXQDA software. Throughout the years, he has taken part in several multidisciplinary research teams, holding extensive experience in the field of qualitative and quantitative research methods. His practise encompasses all the stages of data collection and analysis, along with mapping and spatial analysis tools rendering.
Francisco works regularly as a software instructor, research methods lecturer, and consultant in Portugal and abroad – until now the list includes more than ten different countries. Currently he is based in Berlin, Germany. His special research interests are risk and regulation, small and big data, data science, and research methodologies.
