MAXQDA basics taught in the workshop “Analysing Qualitative Data with MAXQDA Starter I“.

Overview

This workshop introduces the further basic functions of MAXQDA. It consists of a mixture of demonstrations and guided practice, focusing on the practical knowledge required for using MAXQDA for the analysis of qualitative data.

Goals

In this workshop you will learn how to use sophisticated analysis techniques of MAXQDA. You will learn to use memos to hold and organise ideas and thoughts. After the workshop you will be able to use standardised background information (like age, health status etc.) to filter and compare your data. You know how to conduct simple and complex lexical searches and automatically code search results.

Your Instructor

LKDr. Łukasz Krzyżowski is a postdoctoral fellow within TRANSFORmIG project at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Germany and assistant professor at AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland. He was taking part in the execution of international financial grant agreements with such organizations as the European Research Council or German Research Foundation. He is a member of the Research Training Group of the “From Heterogeneities to Social Inequalities” Collaborative Research Centre (SFB) at Bielefeld University. He was team leader of the “Transnational Caregiving and Intergenerational Relations in Migrant Cultures” project financed by the EEA Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. As a member of the TRANSFORmIG team at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Łukasz Krzyżowski deals with social network analysis (SNA), qualitative methodologies of researching social remittances through the life course, and social distance in transnational social spaces. Łukasz’s expertise is in qualitative methods, in particular multi-sited ethnography, qualitative longitudinal research and mixed methods and he lectures qualitative methods and qualitative and mixed methods data analysis with MAXQDA.
