Date

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2016, 10.00 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.

For anyone…

who wants to learn about the qualitative analysis of audiovisual data with MAXQDA.

Requirements

MAXQDA basics taught in the workshops “Analysing Qualitative Data with MAXQDA Starter I” and preferably “Analysing Qualitative Data with MAXQDA Starter II“: You should be familiar with the interface, be able to code texts, retrieve coded segments and write memos.

Overview

The workshop starts off with an overview about the various possibilities MAXQDA offers for the analysis of pictures, audio and video files. In the main section we will focus on hands-on exercises with concrete examples. Last but not least we will discuss the triangulation of audiovisual data with conventional text data.

Goals

In this workshop you will learn how to use MAXQDA functions for the analysis and management of audiovisual data. We will practice the transcription of pictures, audio- and video files as well as possibilities for coding without prior transcription. Mainly we will work with concrete examples (audio recordings, pictures, internet videos) that will enable you to integrate audiovisual data into your own project right after participating in this workshop. In order to optimize this integration we will also discuss the relation between conventional text data and audiovisual data, learning how both kinds of data can be triangulated within the process of analysis.
